Abbas Malek holds a Ph.D. in International Communication from American University, in Washington, DC, a M.A. in Communication Research and a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from Tehran University, Iran. He is a professor on the faculty of Communication, Culture and Media Studies, in Howard’s School of Communications, where he specializes in political communication, intercultural communication, and communications policy and management. Dr. Malek’s research and professional experience are in telecommunications policy and international affairs, including news media and foreign policy. He is the co-author of The Global Dynamics of News Studies in International News Coverage and News Agenda (2000), and the editor of News Media and Foreign Relations (1997), as well as several book chapters and journal articles. Dr. Malek has conducted several research projects which were presented in academic conferences on American news media policy issues.
