Dominique Harrison Receives Barrow Scholarship

October 14, 2013

In August 2013, the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) awarded Dominique Harrison received the Barrow Scholarship, honoring the late Professor Lionel C. Barrow, Jr., for his pioneering efforts in support of minority education in journalism and mass communication.  Harrison, a doctoral candidate at Howard, was selected from a field of highly qualified candidates on the basis of her “capacity for and record of making significant contributions to communication theory and methodology.”  Her dissertation research examines issues of gender in telecommunications policy in Jamaica.  The Barrow Scholarship includes a monetary award and a one-year membership in the Communication Theory and Methodology Division of AEJMC (the division that makes the award).
