The third annual Social Media Technology Conference & Workshop took place at Bowie State University, Maryland, September 26-27, 2013. The conference featured a national roster of scholars and professionals who shared their perspectives and research on practice and pedagogy associated with social media. Sessions included “Assessing Digital Works for Promotion and Tenure”, “Teaching Students to Use Social Media to Build Online Reputation and Attract Employers” and “Experiences Teaching Collaboration for Game Innovation to Computer Science Students”, among others. Dr. Tia Tyree, Professor Ingrid Sturgis, and Dr. Kehbuma Langmia, from Howard, and Dr. Pamela O’Brien from Bowie State, organized the event that drew participants from the mid-Atlantic region. Their edited a text containing papers from the 2012 conference, titled Social Media: Pedagogy and Practice, and published by University Press of America, is scheduled for release winter 2014.
