The Howard Media Group is made up of several faculty members and graduate students who all share the vision of the organization. Current members of the group are listed below.


  • M.A. and Ph.D. in communications from University of Washington, Seattle; and B.S. in education from University of Colorado, Boulder. She joined the faculty of Howard University in 2004 after previous posts at University of Maryland, Ithaca College and Radford University.

  • MA in media communications from Governors State University, University Park, Ill.; and BA in liberal arts from Columbia College, Chicago, Ill. He joined the Department of Radio, Television & Film at Howard University in 2003. He taught previously at Kennedy College, Chicago.

  • PhD in communications from Howard University; MSA from Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill.; and BA in mass communications from the University of Nigeria in Nsukka, Nigeria.

  • Ph.D. in communications from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Mich.
    MA in communication management from Annenberg School, USC  

  • Master’s in journalism from New York University, B.A. in art from City College of New York. Ingrid Sturgis is an Assistant Professor, specializing in new media, in the Department of Journalism.

  • BA Journalism and Public Relations, California State University, Los Angeles; MA Journalism and EdD Higher Education Administration, University of Southern California. He is Emeritus Professor of Communication, Culture and Media Studies at Howard University. Dr.


  • Renee Dupree is a first-year doctoral student in the Communication, Culture, and Media Studies department at Howard University.

  • B.A. in Political Sciences from University of Puerto Rico Mayagüez in 2007 and a J.D. from Interamerican University of Puerto Rico Law School in 2010. She then moved to Florida where she completed a LL.M. in Comparative Law from University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2011.

  • B.S. in Telecommunications from University of Florida, and a M.S. from Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. While in UFL, Alisa worked with WRUF Sports Radio 850, WUFT-TV, WRUF-FM, and interned with ESPN Radio (Gainesville/Ocala).

     Ph.D. in Mass Communication and Media Studies from Howard University; J.D. from Atlanta's John Marshall Law School; and MPA and BA from Clark Atlanta University.
