Researchers

The Howard Media Group is made up of several faculty members and graduate students who all share the vision of the organization. Current members of the group are listed below.

Carolyn Byerly, Ph.D.

M.A. and Ph.D. in communications from University of Washington, Seattle; and B.S. in education from University of Colorado, Boulder. She joined the faculty of Howard University in 2004. She taught previously at University of Maryland, Ithaca College and Radford University.

Chukwuka Onwumechili, Ph.D.

PhD in communications from Howard University; MSA from Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill.; and BA in mass communications from the University of Nigeria in Nsukka, Nigeria. Joined Howard University’s Department of Communication and Culture in 2009.

Clint C. Wilson II, Ed.D.

BA Journalism and Public Relations, California State University, Los Angeles; MA Journalism and EdD Higher Education Administration, University of Southern California. He is Professor of Journalism and graduate professor of Mass Communication and Media Studies at Howard University. Dr.

Dominique Harrison is currently a Ph.D. student in the Mass Communication and Media Studies program at Howard University. She earned her M.A. in media studies from the University of Texas at Austin and her B.S. in advertising from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Ingrid Sturgis, M.A.

Master’s in journalism from New York University, B.A. in art from City College of New York. Ingrid Sturgis is an Assistant Professor, specializing in new media, in the Department of Journalism.

Reginald D. Miles, M.A.

MA in media communications from Governors State University, University Park, Ill.; and BA in liberal arts from Columbia College, Chicago, Ill. He joined the Department of Radio, Television & Film at Howard University in 2003. He taught previously at Kennedy College, Chicago.

Roger Caruth, M.P.A, J.D.

Mr. Caruth is currently a Ph.D. student in the Mass Communication Media Studies program at Howard University.

Yong Jin Park, Ph.D.

Ph.D. in telecommunications from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Mich.
