Howard Media Group is a composed of faculty and graduate students who believe that research and education have a role to play in shaping communications policy to better serve the public interest. We are specifically concerned with giving African Americans, other people of color, and women a stronger voice in policy formation in order to expand their access to both traditional media and new communications technologies. HMG’s work is founded on an understanding that access to the channels of communication are essential if people are to have a public voice in matters of common concern and participate in democratic process.
